The Mystery Man in SIXTY SIX!
| 08.17.2013 – SIXTY SIX was an unknown comic book conceived in 2012 by Russell Molina (Madyik Silya ni Titoy “Titoy’s Magic Chair) and Ian Sta. Maria (Skyworld) and first released at the recently concluded Indieket 2013. The story about an old man named Celestino Cabal who celebrated his 66th birthday where he received a special gift that he slowly opened to an unknown surprise as the series’ premise. The creators released two chapters but in those stories there were still unanswered questions that you might anticipate for the third chapter. |

Sights & Highlights at Indieket 2013!
| 08.12.2013 – Indieket this year was laid back despite the volume of people went to check out their local artists and their works. It was bigger than the previous year and there were several new comics and launches that made this event truly special. The doors opened at 10 AM there was already long lines that formed outside the Bayanihan Center. Upon entering you’ll see there were already comic shops that have set up their booth ready for you to dig into their back issue bins. Among the vendors who participated, Filbar’s have something more to reveal with their mini exhibit. |

IndieKet 2013: Event Details & More!
08.09.2013 – Komikon Indieket is back on its second year focusing on the independent publishing where new Filipino made comics gets introduced. If last year’s event brought in new material and introducing artists who had their work sold out then the second one will be a little bit bigger.

Indieket gives spotlight to the small market that you rarely see in your local comic shop. It’s where original material gets discovered away from established publishers. It’s more like what APE (Alternative Print Expo) does in the US. Read more »

Trese: The Filbar's Edition!
| 08.06.2013 – Trese the creation of Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo has been captivating a growing cult following. Great stories that made you feel like watching an episode of Fringe or the X-Files that inspired an original fresh new take on Filipino horror genre. It’s been a while since Midnight Tribunal was released its fifth book of the series and the rave reviews continue to flow making Alexandra Trese’s adventures become a word of mouth in the social media. |

The consPIGracy of PDI suspends Pugad Boy!
06.06.2013 – It’s now becoming a trend in the social media and the announcement that Pol Medina’s longest running comic strip “Pugad Baboy” on the Philippine Daily Inquirer has been temporary suspended due to controversy.

Pol who started the comic strip in 1988 has become an iconic personality in the Philippine comic industry whose stories are satirical in nature talking about humor in politics and anything that has something to do with the Philippine culture. Read more »

Pinoykon Festive Pop Culture Event!
| 03.03.2013 – Pinoykon is the latest pop culture event to be held in Metro Manila this year. Another brewing event that showcases the local talents in the country which also featured what do you see in a convention. What makes Pinoykon stands out in its first event is putting value in the local comic book community which has already been striving. The other parts are the local gaming, toy, and hobbyist community which also gets a spotlight. |

12.14.2012 – Star Trek resurgence has been steadily coming alive again due to the release of the first teaser trailer went online a few days ago. For those newbie Trekkies who has picked the interest of the movie since its film reboot in 2009 they won’t be familiar with this local group that was founded 10 years ago.

Inquirer SUPER Lifestyle Feat. Komiks!
11.17.2012 – Earlier today the latest SUPER Lifestyle feature was about Filipino Komiks and it was written by none other than Gerry Alanguilan (Elmer and Wasted) who has worked for international publishers such as DC, Marvel and Image who has an award winning book in his creation for Elmer.

PICCA Fest 2012: Event Coverage & Highlights!
| 10.07.2012 – The Philippine International Creative Content and Arts (PICCA) celebrate the last day with event highlights from featured trade and showcase from the komiks industry as well as a gallery of art works from the local and international scene. There was also workshops, Drawing contests for kids, Caricature sessions, and to round up the closing of PICCA Festival the event has partnered with GTMACCON, where a collection of passionate cosplayers dress up as their favourite Filipino characters based from indie komiks. |

Komikon: Indieket 2012 Convention Coverage!
| 07.14.2012 – Komikon’s Indieket had a huge turn out and this event was geared to promote the independent Philippine comics scene. The event definitely gave the independent comic book publishers a voice that is hardly noticed in other conventions in the country. Komikon has definitely re-energized the Philippine comic book scene promoting the local culture since its inception in 2005. The rest followed suit giving the independent publishers a chance to promote and bring back the “Komiks” industry AND make this a reality. |
