Movie Review: Disney Planes!

08.22.2013 – Disney Planes was originally supposed to be a direct to DVD film expanding the world of Cars. But the studio was impressed about the story and it premise that they have set it to be shown in theaters. It was announced that Disney Planes will be a trilogy and it was already announced that it will be followed by Disney Planes: Fire & Rescue with a set of screen date. Dusty Crophopper’s dreams as an international air racer begin in this film.

Thundercats Classic: Lion-O! (8" Inch Scale Series)

08.17.2013 – Lion-O the iconic lord of the Thundercats has been the focal point of the original series as well as the recently cancelled modern series from 2011. Bandai manufactured the toy line up until Warner Bros. Animation canceled the TV series. It left a cliffhanger similar to what happened to the Mike Young produced Masters of the Universe. You’ll never know what happened after that series ending episode. But the toys continued to sell but not as popular as you expected.

The Mystery Man in SIXTY SIX!

08.17.2013 – SIXTY SIX was an unknown comic book conceived in 2012 by Russell Molina (Madyik Silya ni Titoy “Titoy’s Magic Chair) and Ian Sta. Maria (Skyworld) and first released at the recently concluded Indieket 2013. The story about an old man named Celestino Cabal who celebrated his 66th birthday where he received a special gift that he slowly opened to an unknown surprise as the series’ premise. The creators released two chapters but in those stories there were still unanswered questions that you might anticipate for the third chapter.

Movie Review: Kick-Ass 2!

08.13.2013 – Kick-Ass 2 has been one of the most awaited films based from Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.’s original comic book that was published by Marvel under its Icon Comic imprint. What made the original film true to its source material was the characterization of Hit Girl portrayed by Chloe Grace Moretz. This film propelled Moretz career in getting her to films that would truly remember her. But it took 3 years for the film to be released that Hit Girl doesn’t look like a 13 yr old.

Movie Review: RED 2!

08.04.2013 – RED 2 is the sequel to the 2010 blockbuster film which was based from DC Comics limited series by Warren Ellis and Cully Hammer under the WildStorm imprint Homage Studios which tells the story retired CIA agent Frank Moses. The film version differs from the comic book series which was light hearted comedy as opposed to the serious grit that was created by Elis and Hummer. RED the title is derived from the designation of the status of Frank Moses, meaning "Retired, Extremely Dangerous."

Avengers A.I. #1: Harder. Better. Faster. Stranger.

08.02.2013 – The changes that happened after the events of Age of Ultron 10# and followed by #10 AI in re-introducing Hank Pym in the modern times is shaking up to bring you the first issue of Avengers A.I. It’s spearheaded by Avengers’ founding member in Hank Pym best known as Ant-Man. The size changing hero also known as Giant Man, Goliath, and Yellowjacket is all about artificial intelligence and teaming up with Vision, Victor Mancha, Monica Chang, and re-programmed Doombot looks mighty interesting.

That one man is Hank Pym the size changing hero known as Ant-Man. Star Wars Black Series Luke Skywalker

Presenting Luke Skywalker from the Star Wars Black Series.

Now before you go balistic NO THE BLACK SERIES DOES NOT INCLUDE A LIGHT-UP LIGHTSABER - that's Photoshop (because I think it's cool).

Anyway, this is Hasbro's most recent and quite interesting venture involving the release of 6-inch tall figures to accompany their regular new 3.5" figure line. Luke Skywalker Rebel Pilot is one of four figures involved in series 1 of the Black Series line that includes R2-D2, Darth Maul and an Imperial Sand Trooper (Troop builders start drooling, they Sand Troopers look awesome).

Anyway, as I understand it, Series 1 has yet to reach International Distribution levels (But they're already available in HongKong and the Philippines), and there is much debate as to whether we should embrace Hasbro's move to the larger format or curse them to the high heavens, so here's a peak at the Black Series Luke Skywalker.

Pacific Rim Opens the Possibility of Cool!

07.11.2013 – There was no trailer for other movies they started showing the film almost at 8 PM. There was some trivia games where you took home a coffee table book related to Pacific Rim which was won by two individuals. It was raining hard but no one bothered as everyone started lining up to get in the cinema by 7 PM. The rain was bad and traffic was at standstill. But then again you’re cozy up as one of the few who get to see the film prior to regular showing.

Golden Age Hero: The Owl #1!

07.06.2013 –The Owl (not to be mistaken for Marvel’s hairy villain) is an original character first appeared in 1940 in Crackerjack Funnies #25 published by Dell Comics. The Golden Age superhero was created by Frank Thomas possibly inspired from DC Comics’ Batman. A fictional city of Yorktown in need of a hero and Police detective Nick Terry became The Owl to protect his home his home city in the night. Originally during Dell Comics publication the character have similar gimmicks that the famed cape crusader has today.

06.19.2013 – If you’re in to the Zombie themes and has read Max Brooks original 2006 novel then you must be anticipating the much long awaited film. For anyone who has heard or have seen the teaser trailers it will definitely make you wonder if it happens in the real world. From the screenplay of Matthew Michael Carnahan, Drew Goddard, and Damon Lindelof they definitely pull out and a well-crafted script that gives you some acting from the talents most notably Brad Pitt.

06.12.2013 – The Man of Steel has been getting heavy promotions the past few days having the actors appear in US talk shows while DC Entertainment pushes the film in revealing more than TV spots as well as never before seen trailers. Yesterday it has also showed the red carpet premier live feed online and the Philippines is one of the countries that gets to have a special press media screening that was graced by local celebrities and personalities. A few days earlier it had a special promotional exhibit at second biggest mall in the world.

Daredevil #26: Man With Fear!

05.25.2013 – How do you beat anticipation? How about trying to be a blind man like Daredevil? What about hunger? An EPIC 3D Adventure Reviewed!

05.24.2013 – EPIC had a Philippine press screening over the weekend and have tie ups with ETC in bringing a special advance showing for those lucky viewers who won tickets when they conducted a context in their cable channel. Prior to the screening they showed upcoming movies for Turbo, Pacific Rim and Man of Steel with films distributed by 20th Century Fox. Man of Steel is distributed by Warner Bros. Picture Studios which is heavily promoted with the Philippine screen date of June 12, 2013 in 3D.

Transformers Generations Springer - 30th Anniversary

Springer is not to be confused with the Transformers Generations Springer Asian Exclusive  - though I'm pretty sure that a lot of that will happen. This particular Transformers Generations Springer is the herald of the upcoming 30th year anniversary of the Transformers in 2014 - so do expect to empty your pockets more from now till then.

I've always loved the Green Knight of the Autobot and could never quite understand why Hasbro only released one version (G1) of Springer as a triple changer.  Everything else that followed that simply wasn't up to par. So when I saw that they finally did, I absolutely had to grab him

Non-Spoiler Alert! Star Trek Into Darkness!

05.11.2013 – Star Trek Into Darkness has a special press media screening last night at the IMAX Theater in SM North Edsa. Unlike in 2009 this was more of a by invitation for the press media that has calmer audience anticipated to see the film. Of course there was catered food and a special goodie in the form of the Starfleet insignia made out of cookies that literal ran out. Prior to the main screening the audience has started to form a line entering the theater.

Marvel Legends Series 1 Iron Man Gold Variant

Presenting the Marvel Legends Series 1 Iron Man - Gold Variant.

Today, April 24, Iron Man 3 opens in cinemas all over Metro Manila, so I thought that it would just be apt to blog about Iron Man - that and he's so much fun to Photoshop.

Please also note the attempt to try a different background and lighting.

To the uninitiated, this is the Iron Man Mark III armor. Marvel Legends released three Iron Men in this series, the classic yellow and red Iron Man Mark V Armor, a stealth version (Blue) Iron Man Mark V Armor, and this rare gold and horn-headed version, the Iron Man Mark III.

So this is actually an older version of an Iron Man armor. Marvel actually skipped the Iron Man Mark IV because that one had a nose and simply made him look silly.
