PRESS RELEASE: STGCC 2013 Breaks Record in Attendance!

09.09.2013 – Truly a remarkable and memorable event in STGCC 2013 that definitely put Singapore in the map for annual multi-genre events since its first in 2008 that defined them as the “Pop Culture Event of the Year!” and every convention brings something new to its ever growing fun experience.

It’s basically an event that balance in bringing the guest and also having retailers the chance to bring something different in each year since its very first STGCC and that is a feat unmatched by the quality of what is a true convention.

STGCC 2013: The 501st SG Diorama!

09.09.2013 – The Singapore Toy, Game, and Comic Convention is a multi-genre event that highlights the best and brightest but also promoting the local scene that appreciate every aspect of pop culture and urban lifestyle.

There are participating retailers as well as organization that promotes charities and one group that has been present since STGCC in 2008 is the The 501st Legion based in Singapore which every year organize a theme they represent in the annual event.

STGCC 2013: RDD Last Day Coverage!

09.02.2013 – Final round up of reports from STGCC correspondent Red Dot Diva who was gracious enough to share the coverage regarding day two for this year’s event. Sunday had a rough start and if you think the crowd was enough to the halls take a guess on the second day.

Most of the lines formed at the guest highlights like C.B. Cebulski, David Mack and Joe Madureira at the Marvel panels as well as the walk of fame. Dexter Soy has now a huge following after his first visit in July at Invasion Comics & Toys.

PinoyKon Venue Directions Updated!

02.19.2013 – Pinoykon has been consistently being promoted all over the social media network. It is the latest Filipino Pop Culture related convention to have its debut promoting comics, toys, cosplay, and games under one event.

The event is more focused to promote more of the growing comic book loving community which has been the latest boom in the past years. Pinoykon aims to set the bar high in encouraging fans to make their own works as well as acknowledge the growing industry. Read more »

ICCON 2012: The Pop Culture Event in Iloilo City!

12.02.2012 – The FIRST Iloilo Comic Con was a success featuring the best artists from Manila and based in this region which was held earlier today at the Robinsons Place Iloilo.

The special guest featured comic book artists based in Manila with Gerry Alanguilan, Manix Abrera, Carlo Vergara, Heuber Khan Michael, Aaron Felizmenio, Carlo Pagulayan, Wilson Tortosa, Stephen Segovia and Danny Acuna. Black Pearl Philippines was also present for the cosplay judging and more!

12.02.2012 – Iloilo Comic Con is a one day event and THE first Pop Culture in Western Visayas featuring prominent guests based in Manila as well as the local artists. The anticipation for this event has been brewing for months since the event’s announcement sometime in June.

The set up early in the morning at the Robinsons Place Iloilo started last night after the special press media event gathering some of the guests from Manila at the University of Iloilo. ICCON won’t start until the opening of the mall hours.

ICCON 2012: Iloilo Comic Con Preview!

12.01.2012 – This weekend the Philippine Komiks community the Western Visayas very first Iloilo Comic Con happening this Sunday December 2, 2012 in the activity center of the Robinsons Place opening mall hours where you’ll see some of the country’s top home grown talents.

If your passion is reading comics and looking to see how established is the Philippine Komiks industry all you need is drop by the event and meet the talented artists. There is no entrance fee and some of the best known artists based in Manila will be present.

Komikon 2012: Dark Bulb's Shatter Space!

11.04.2012 – Darkbulb Design + Illustrations' first Komikon appearance brings in their komiks debut in Shatter space featuring the creation of Nelz and Karen Yumul. The space adventures of Space Mando the battle clad hero in the series.

Shatter Space #1 is a new sign of things to come which is accompanied by the Space Mando statue bust on display which was sculptured by Karen Yumul. Darkbulb has been connected with the art group WeeWillDoodle as one of the founding members who does live art.

Komikon 2012: Indie Tiangge & Komiks Kalye!

10.30.2012 – Komikon 2012 expands floor space taking out the conference rooms and almost half of the lobby which used to be the hangouts for regular attendees.

During the Summer Komikon the conference rooms were reserved for special guest artists who would conduct a talk or a particular workshop.

For the annual 8th Komikon they maximize the use of the rooms for “Independent Komiks Tiangge” and "Komiks Kayle".

10.29.2012 – Komikon 2012 its 8th year has consistently evolved through the years, promoting the best & the brightest artists in the industry. The revival of "Filipino Komiks" has been steadily carried on by the next generation of artists aiming to make it big in the international scene.

The central part of Komikon is the activities on stage: whether it’s a hotdog eating contest or presenting the awards for those who joined the contests but do not forget the artists who are the highlighted guests in this year’s event.

10.29.2012 – Komikon 2012 is bigger on its 8th year taking almost half the space of the lobby and occupying the function rooms for the Independent Komiks Tiangge and Komiks Kalye for special activities featuring Filipino artists making a name in the international scene.

The event is bustling with activity and the main hall is no longer as jam packed as in the previous Summer Komikon last May and the introduction of the Indieket last July. Clearly this shows that there is a market for Filipino creativity through komiks.

APE 2012: Segio Aragones & Jim Woodring at Day 1!

10.14.2012 – This year’s APE, the Alternative Press Expo was bustling with independent and original works at the Concourse Convention Center. When you open the doors it’s not exactly a mad house as compared to SDCC 2012 but good enough to walk the aisle to check out some interesting finds.

Last year’s APE attracted some 5000 visitors to some of the finest works of art you’ll see holding court but of course for this year there’s always a first. Sergio Aragonés was present for his first appearance at APE 2012.

APE 2012: The Event & Exhibitor Highlights!

10.14.2012 – APE, the Alternative Press Expo has finally opened its doors to visitors from all over San Francisco USA at the Concourse Exhibition Center where the event has been held since 2003.

It’s not big as other conventions but good enough to see independent works from various medium of popular culture genre.

The first day was not as crowded as expected and prior to heading to the venue you can now purchase your one or two-day pass online and talk about convenience without the need to stand in line.

10.11.2012 – APE, the Alternative Press Expo is happening this weekend at the Concourse Exhibition Center in San Francisco USA. There are lots of scheduled events happening on October 13 to 14, 2012 which will also have talks and workshops.

Photo Coverage at the Manila International Book Fair 2012!

09.12.2012 – The Manila International Book Fair opens its doors today and celebrating its 33rd year. The annual “book convention” is one of the most anticipated events this year in partnership with Book Development Association, Inc. (BDAP)

The biggest book fair in the country not only promotes to continue reading but also promotes education with tag line “Words Without Borders.” The event has a huge turn out last year with eighty five thousand people visiting over three hundred local and foreign exhibitors.
