Clash of the Champions: DC Heroes VS MOTU!

09.02.2013 – It’s no big secret but if you grew up in the 1980s and have seen He-Man and the Master of the Universe on television chances your familiar with the current iteration of the comic book series as well as the toys that came with it.

MOTU fans have been supporting the toy line since interested started in the early 2000s that produced a new TV series by Mike Young productions that ended quickly similar to the new Thundercats. But the interest never died that DC Comics published a new series.

The Mystery Man in SIXTY SIX!

08.17.2013 – SIXTY SIX was an unknown comic book conceived in 2012 by Russell Molina (Madyik Silya ni Titoy “Titoy’s Magic Chair) and Ian Sta. Maria (Skyworld) and first released at the recently concluded Indieket 2013.

The story about an old man named Celestino Cabal who celebrated his 66th birthday where he received a special gift that he slowly opened to an unknown surprise as the series’ premise. The creators released two chapters but in those stories there were still unanswered questions that you might anticipate for the third chapter.

First Look: The Original Star Wars!

08.10.2013 – Star Wars Episode VII is still in production and that won’t happen until 2015. But Dark Horse Comics is not resting their laurels for you to wait but to look back at the beginning in what has become the biggest space opera this side of science fiction.

Dark Horse Comics has pulled all out the original screenplay of Star Wars from George Lucas’ archive what the famous space adventure should have been.

IndieKet 2013: Event Details & More!

08.09.2013 – Komikon Indieket is back on its second year focusing on the independent publishing where new Filipino made comics gets introduced. If last year’s event brought in new material and introducing artists who had their work sold out then the second one will be a little bit bigger.



Indieket gives spotlight to the small market that you rarely see in your local comic shop. It’s where original material gets discovered away from established publishers. It’s more like what APE (Alternative Print Expo) does in the US. Read more »

Geek Week 2013: This is Why We Love Comics!

08.09.2013 – It’s Geek Week on YouTube and several videos paying tribute to the event featured the launch of the new Thor: The Dark World trailer and countless interesting videos that you might come across that will inform and entertain you.

Buzzfeed however has something in mind and since the Philippines is gearing up for the second annual Komikon Indieket this Saturday why not promote the video “This is Why We Love Comics!”

Avengers A.I. #1: Harder. Better. Faster. Stranger.

08.02.2013 – The changes that happened after the events of Age of Ultron 10# and followed by #10 AI in re-introducing Hank Pym in the modern times is shaking up to bring you the first issue of Avengers A.I. It’s spearheaded by Avengers’ founding member in Hank Pym best known as Ant-Man.

The size changing hero also known as Giant Man, Goliath, and Yellowjacket is all about artificial intelligence and teaming up with Vision, Victor Mancha, Monica Chang, and re-programmed Doombot looks mighty interesting.

Age of Ultron #10 AI: Hank Pym Origins!

07.31.2013 – The aftermath of Age of Ultron left a huge repercussion in the Marvel Universe.

But in the end one man had the “sure win” to conquer the challenges even a collection of the best Avengers was not successful thwarting the threat.

That one man is Hank Pym the size changing hero known as Ant-Man. Marvel has dig deeper in the collection of characters that needed a spotlight and Hank Pym is the man they are grooming in the comic books.

Golden Age Hero: The Owl #1!

07.06.2013 –The Owl (not to be mistaken for Marvel’s hairy villain) is an original character first appeared in 1940 in Crackerjack Funnies #25 published by Dell Comics. The Golden Age superhero was created by Frank Thomas possibly inspired from DC Comics’ Batman.

A fictional city of Yorktown in need of a hero and Police detective Nick Terry became The Owl to protect his home his home city in the night. Originally during Dell Comics publication the character have similar gimmicks that the famed cape crusader has today.

Captain Steel appears in Earth 2 #13 a Filipino!

06.09.2013 – Originally known as Commander Steel or some calls him Citizen Steel that was created by Gerry Conway and Don Heck who first made its literary birth in Steel, The Indestructible Man #1 in 1978 where his adventures is set in the World War II.

This is not to be confused with the current character that made its New 52 debut in Earth 2 #13 which changed Steel’s heritage that he was Filipino by birth which was announced early this year by writer James Robinsons during the panel at Wondercon. But certainly it’s getting widespread media attention in the Philippines.

The consPIGracy of PDI suspends Pugad Boy!

06.06.2013 – It’s now becoming a trend in the social media and the announcement that Pol Medina’s longest running comic strip “Pugad Baboy” on the Philippine Daily Inquirer has been temporary suspended due to controversy.



Pol who started the comic strip in 1988 has become an iconic personality in the Philippine comic industry whose stories are satirical in nature talking about humor in politics and anything that has something to do with the Philippine culture. Read more »

05.27.2013 – The Dark Colony: Book 1 Mikey Recio & The Secret of The Demon Dungeon is a mouthful long title for a super natural all-original Filipino graphic novel. But the title lives up to its creators in Budjette Tan (Co-Creator of Trese), Bow Guerrero and J.B. “Taps” Tapia that define the super hero genre.

The Philippines is rich with folklore that Neil Gaiman once said that he’s been impressed for its culture and that’s been being the concept of this book. Dark Colony is action packed super natural adventure featuring a teenage hero in Mikey Recio.

Daredevil #26: Man With Fear!

Lyndon Gregorio's Trek & The City!

12.14.2012 – Star Trek resurgence has been steadily coming alive again due to the release of the first teaser trailer went online a few days ago. For those newbie Trekkies who has picked the interest of the movie since its film reboot in 2009 they won’t be familiar with this local group that was founded 10 years ago.

Marvel NOW: All-New X-Men #1!

11.18.2012 – Finally it’s out. The All-New X-Men #1 by Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen has been released which was a welcoming launch by Castle Geek that features the local cosplay group and raffling off a the coveted Cyclops sketch by current Xtreme X-Men inker Dennis Crisostomo.

The comic book has been talked about and had a lot of teasers which build up to the release of the new flagship title replacing Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 2) changing the world we see about our merry mutants.
