STGCC 2013: Komikon Team brings Dexter Soy!

08.14.2013 – The Singapore Toys Games and Comic Convention (STGCC) is just a few weeks away and they have announced their guests who will be gracing this year’s event. If last year’s Philippine invasion of artists was big expect a new group to make it to represent the country.



The organizers of Komikon returns this year though not the complete roster but they will bring along fast rising artists in Dexter Soy and this time they will be situated at the Artist Alley along with Callous Comics creator Dr. Carlo San Juan who was one of the guests at the recently concluded Indieket 2013. Indieket 2013: Filbar's to Unveil a Surprise!

08.10.2013 – Filbar’s presences at Summer Komikon was the beginning and their launching of the concept store was just a tip of the iceberg. For Indieket it’s something new and that direction is going to astound you.

Sights & Highlights: Mini-Komikon Night!

05.31.2013 – Visprint and Komikon Inc. team up to bring you Mini-Komikon Night as presented The National Book Development Board which features the Philippine comic industry that has the creators of Trese, Filipino Heroes League, Kuting Magiting, Beerkada, West Side and many more as well as the publisher Black Ink.

The short but successful event featured talks by Budjette Tan how he developed the highly popular Trese comic book series with the upcoming sixth book this November. The event was visited my all walks of life who has appreciated the local komiks scene.

ICCON 2012: Komikon Booth Set-Up & More!

12.02.2012 – Iloilo Comic Con is a one day event and THE first Pop Culture in Western Visayas featuring prominent guests based in Manila as well as the local artists. The anticipation for this event has been brewing for months since the event’s announcement sometime in June.

The set up early in the morning at the Robinsons Place Iloilo started last night after the special press media event gathering some of the guests from Manila at the University of Iloilo. ICCON won’t start until the opening of the mall hours.

Komikon 2012: Dark Bulb's Shatter Space!

11.04.2012 – Darkbulb Design + Illustrations' first Komikon appearance brings in their komiks debut in Shatter space featuring the creation of Nelz and Karen Yumul. The space adventures of Space Mando the battle clad hero in the series.

Shatter Space #1 is a new sign of things to come which is accompanied by the Space Mando statue bust on display which was sculptured by Karen Yumul. Darkbulb has been connected with the art group WeeWillDoodle as one of the founding members who does live art.

Komikon 2012: Komikasi with LIKE Man!

11.02.2012 – Komikon 2012 bought the best talents with growing exhibitors every there also have been certain variety of interest. The ideas have been crossing boundaries beyond creator owned komiks it translates to other interesting hobbies.

Take the booth of Komikasi and LIKE Man who released the Flirt Cards which also brought the Komikon Exclusive Travel Edition which was only available for this particular event. They also are promoting some of their computer games that you might find it interesting.

Komikon 2012: Indie Tiangge & Komiks Kalye!

10.30.2012 – Komikon 2012 expands floor space taking out the conference rooms and almost half of the lobby which used to be the hangouts for regular attendees.

During the Summer Komikon the conference rooms were reserved for special guest artists who would conduct a talk or a particular workshop.

For the annual 8th Komikon they maximize the use of the rooms for “Independent Komiks Tiangge” and "Komiks Kayle".

10.29.2012 – Komikon 2012 its 8th year has consistently evolved through the years, promoting the best & the brightest artists in the industry. The revival of "Filipino Komiks" has been steadily carried on by the next generation of artists aiming to make it big in the international scene.

The central part of Komikon is the activities on stage: whether it’s a hotdog eating contest or presenting the awards for those who joined the contests but do not forget the artists who are the highlighted guests in this year’s event.

Komikon 2012: Activities & Event Coverage!

10.29.2012 – Komikon 2012 is bigger on its 8th year taking almost half the space of the lobby and occupying the function rooms for the Independent Komiks Tiangge and Komiks Kalye for special activities featuring Filipino artists making a name in the international scene.

The event is bustling with activity and the main hall is no longer as jam packed as in the previous Summer Komikon last May and the introduction of the Indieket last July. Clearly this shows that there is a market for Filipino creativity through komiks.

Komikon 2012: ZoomBurst "Komiks" Themed Photo Booth!

10.28.2012 – ZoomBurst Photo booth services was at Komikon 2012 where they provided convention visitors a special komiks related souvenir for them to take home. This company is their first appearance for Komikon 2012 which definitely caught some attention also with the artists and cosplayers.

Their presence definitely makes Komikon 2012 a unique experience for everyone and they also have a special promo that can only be found at this event.

Komikon 2012: Happy Girl in a Birdhouse of Penguins!

10.28.2012 – Before you purchase a ticket to enter at Komikon 2012 there are some sponsors in this year’s event that you might find interesting. Beside the free taste with an attractive woman giving away flyers to promote their product there are three non-komiks related goodies you must have missed.

They are Bird House Bakers, Happy Girl Co., and Penguin Sews which was stationed near the Komikon table where you purchase your ticket and also a quick information area for first-timers of this convention.

Komikon 2012: Komikasi to launch The Flirt Card Game!

10.26.2012 – For the past years of Komikon the event is purely related to comics and art works that have been launched exclusively. Rarely do we see something unrelated to convention even foreigners from all over the world would highly visit to see its launches.

Komikon is a work in progress and it’s currently running in its 8th year which ever evolving welcoming new ideas with refreshing concepts. Such as one notable launch that will be unveiled during the event.

Komikon 2012: Freely Abrigo at Indie Komiks Tiangge!

10.24.2012 – Freely Abrigo is back at Komikon 2012 and one of the hardest working artists in the industry will launch not one but two new titles that he’s been cooking up.

The proud artist has been churning up some fresh ideas and he does sketches every day.

We last spoke to Freely during the last day of PICCA (Philippine International Creative Content and Arts) Festival a couple of weeks back who is anticipating this year’s Komikon.

Komikon 2012: Upcoming Launches & New Floor Map!

10.24.2012 – The much awaited Komikon 2012 happens this weekend of October 27, 2012 at the Bayanihan Center in Unilab Complex.

We've previously revealed the floor plan in any case you might get lost. But this time around Komikon has officially released a more detailed layout on who’s who of independent publishers at the Independent Komiks Tiangge.

STGCC 2012: Day Two Event Highlights & Closing Event!

09.02.2012 – The last day of Singapore Toy Game and Comic Convention (STGCC) was a memorable one with the full roster of Filipino guests led by Komikon Inc. with Gerry Alanguilan, Dr. Carlo San Juan, and 8-Bit Media collaborating with Vinyl on Vinyl.

STGCC was spectacular in bringing the East and West culture mash up at the Marina Bay Sands from the Media Preview day to the day it closed its doors everyone went home smiling enjoying the biggest convention weekend.

Komikon: Indieket 2012 Convention Coverage!

07.14.2012 – Komikon’s Indieket had a huge turn out and this event was geared to promote the independent Philippine comics scene. The event definitely gave the independent comic book publishers a voice that is hardly noticed in other conventions in the country.

Komikon has definitely re-energized the Philippine comic book scene promoting the local culture since its inception in 2005. The rest followed suit giving the independent publishers a chance to promote and bring back the “Komiks” industry AND make this a reality.
